10 Hair Care Tips Your Tresses Deserve
Healthy-looking hair FTW.
Hair care is life for us. So, we compiled the top 10 healthy hair care tips we rely on for effortlessly good hair days — all day, every day.
Hair Care Tip #1: Conditions for Conditioner
Oil naturally occurs at the roots, right? Because conditioner tends to be thicker, it could weigh hair down and make your roots look oilier. Reduce the chances of an oil slick by only applying conditioner on your hair’s mid-section to ends. Tangled up? Take a wide-tooth comb into the shower and use it to run conditioner through your strands.

Hair Care Tip #2: Try a Tee Instead of a Towel
One of our favorite top-secret curly hair tips is to squeeze excess water from wet tresses before stepping out of the shower. Skip the towel and enlist the service of an old cotton t-shirt to soak up the rest. P.S. This trick also works for all hair types.

Hair Care Tip #3: Dry Shampoo to the Rescue
Give your hair a refresh with dry shampoo in between washes. It’ll smell divine and help add a boost of volume. We recommend shaking the can first, spraying it 8-12 inches away from your roots and massaging it in to absorb excess oil. Then, blast it with a hairdryer. This last step is key.

Hair Care Tip #4: Protection Matters
Hot tools and hairdryers can wreak havoc on your mane. Protect those strands with a heat-shielding product before you style. It’s one of our go-to healthy hair tips we simply can’t live without. (And neither should you!)

Hair Care Tip #5: Do the Detangle
When it comes to the age-old question of how to take care of curly hair, we always say, it starts with proper combing after using your shampoo and conditioner of choice. The trick? Start at the bottom and work your way up. This may seem counterintuitive, but hear us out. Detangling at the bottom allows you to gently work out the kinks and knots first instead of forcing all of the tangles to the bottom, which can be painful to work through. You’ll thank us later.

Hair Care Tip #6: Hair Care Anywhere
Treat tresses right while you’re traveling. Toss tiny versions of your favorite hair care products in your carry-on or gym bag. You never know when you’re going to need a quick hairdo redo.

Hair Care Tip #7: Pony Up
We love a good ponytail, especially on a lazy day or rainy day. The thing is, pulling your hair back all of the time can put extra strain on it, which could lead to future damage like breakage, hair thinning and a weaker hair shaft. Give your scalp and strands a breather every now and then.

Hair Care Tip #8: Color Your Hair Pretty
You spend big bucks coloring your hair. Keep it looking salon-quality perf with a shampoo made specifically for color-treated hair. These formulas are designed to help keep color vibrant, treat damage, add shine and more. You’d be doing your hair a disservice if you didn’t.

Hair Care Tip #9: Scrunch and Shake
No, it’s not the latest viral dance sensation (although, we’re game to make it happen). When it comes down to how to take care of curly hair, we’re all in favor of a little scrunch and a little shake. Curly hair can be hard to manage, so cheat the system by running a lightweight mousse through freshly washed hair with a wide-toothed comb. Flip your hair over, scrunch at the roots and then shake. Done and done.

Hair Care Tip #10: Treat and Repeat
There’s a good chance your skincare routine might include at least one tried-and-true facial serum. But what about your hair care routine? Much like your skin, your lush locks could benefit from a product that may add extra hydration, shine or softness. A little goes a long way, and all you need to do is apply it to damp hair before styling.
